A visit that
is well worth the detour
Don’t miss: the ideal Palais du facteur Cheval, just 5 minutes from the campsite!
How could you miss it? Le Palais idéal du facteur Cheval in Hauterives is one of France’s most extraordinary sites. Classified as a historic monument, this architectural masterpiece was built stone by stone over a 33-year period by Ferdinand Cheval, a rural letter carrier driven by a mad dream. The result is an extraordinary work of art, a blend of Hindu palace, mosque and Gothic cathedral, which has fascinated young and old alike for over a century.
Just 5 minutes from the Grand Cerf, this is “THE” visit not to be missed! Allow a good hour and a half to fully enjoy it and let your imagination run wild.
